CD - Certified Doula
DASC – Doulas Association of Southern California
DONA – Used to Stand for Doulas of North America, but as of 2004 it became synonymous with the word Doula and is now known as DONA International, due to its global expansion and outreach.
DOULA – (Greek origin) a non medical professional who gets to assist women transition from pregnancy to parenthood by providing emotional physical and informed choice support.
Birth Doula – Synonymous with labor support specialist,a specialist who Prepares and supports a couple in the prenatal time and during childbirth.
Postparum Doula – A trained specialists who provides comfort, support and care to a newborn mom and her family after the birth of their baby/babies.
HBOTB – Happiest Baby On The Block
Lactation – Milk Production, usually in reference to Breastfeeding (ie: lactation education, lactating Breasts)
LE - Lactation Educator - An instructor who teaches the art of Breastfeeding
PCD – Postpartum Certified Doula
Sling – A baby carrier
VBAC – Vaginal Birth After Cesarean
